GABARDINE PVC
Rubberised PVC treated as if it were cool wool. The classic trench rewritten in a material that asks no permission.
A trench coat is a classic with all the rules already written. Making it in rubberised PVC is tearing up the notebook: the material doesn’t breathe, doesn’t give, shines when the light catches it — and that’s exactly the point. I wanted the usual silhouette in a skin that shouldn’t be there. The belt hangs loose on purpose; this trench doesn’t close, it asserts itself.
Sewing rubberised poly is a test of patience: the presser foot grips, the needle marks forever — every hole is final, there’s no basting to see how it goes. Cut measured twice, sewn once. The lapel creases like on a wool trench; the difference is that here the crease is engraved. The error lives in the choice of material, never in the construction.
